Software Development Engineer

As a software development engineer you will form part of a team building and enhancing the Taskforce product suite. You should expect to work broadly across the full development process and be actively involved in design, coding, test and integration. The main purpose of the role is the production of a quality Taskforce product on time and within budget.

Job Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Coding, test and documentation of product software.

The successful candidate will work on continual enhancement and development of our  product and related projects. This will be done working in a team environment, developers will be involved in:

  • Designing software products and components
  • Coding, testing and integrating software components

      Lots of experience is less important than a passion for developing
      software, that you are smart and that you get things done.

  • 1+ years’ post-graduate development experience involving one or more of Java, C++, C#, .NET, asp.net, Ajax, WebServices, J2EE, Oracle, SQL, UML, Unix, Windows
  • Third level qualification in a Software Engineering related subject (2:1 and above is preferred)

Technical skills including, but not limited exclusively to:

  • One or more of Java, C++, C#, .NET, asp.net, Ajax, WebServices, J2EE, Oracle, SQL, UML, Unix, Windows
  • Good understanding of fundamental computing concepts including general utilities and other system software.
  • Ability to produce properly documented, tested and effective computer programs in relevant programming language from specifications supplied.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Broad knowledge of relevant applications or software systems and their interrelation
  • Ability to apply quality standards in the production of technical work

    Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivation, with a proven ability to learn quickly, multi-task and work independently as well as part of a team
  • A positive, ‘can-do’ attitude
  • An aptitude for working in a changing environment and managing multiple priorities

Mobility Specialist

To be the centre of expertise for mobility solutions and to own all internal, partner and customer aspects of these solutions.

The successful candidate will have:

  • To undertake customer-driven configurations / customisations as required
  • To undertake Mobility change-request activities from accepting commissions, developing, testing, integrating and supporting the work, into the CM system, and gaining Customer Acceptance
  • To assist in the production, or produce Test Strategies, Test Lists and Test Results for Customer releases
  • To assist in, or carry out integrations of Mobility solution releases with @Road solutions, test the resulting system and produce or assist in the production of Test Summary Reports
  • To answer customer, partner and internal questions on mobility solutions
  • To provide internal and partner briefings on mobility solutions
  • To maintain and enhance skills and experience – those necessary to efficiently and effectively produce and test the taskforce product upgrades and integrated customised mobility systems.
  • To provide services to our Customers and Support teams as outlined in any relevant Support agreements
  • To write solution documents as required
  • Special projects as assigned

Technical skills including, but not limited exclusively to:

  • Significant experience (2 - 3 years) of software application development.
  • Significant experience (2 - 3 years) of software application testing & integration
  • Significant experience (2 – 3 years) of test and integration activity
  • Proficiency in the Java programming language and the Unix Operating System
  • Understand the requirements of producing product based customisations
  • Self-motivation, with a proven ability to learn quickly, multi-task and work independently as well as part of a team

Sr. Systems Engineer

Systems Engineer will be responsible for server infrastructure support; evaluate users’ requirements, develop project plan, and execution of project plans; record and handle reported system related issues and provide technical assistance. Perform preventative maintenance on installed equipment, install add-on components, set up and configure new systems, and provide advice to end users on hardware and systems software issues.  Monitor and execute regular defined tasks such as data backup and scheduled jobs.  Work with local (Ipswich) and remote (Fremont, US) Systems Engineers closely in delivering committed projects.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Installs and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
  • Confers with staff, users, and management to determine requirements for new systems or modifications.
  • Reads technical manuals, confers with users, and conducts computer diagnostics to determine nature of problems and provide technical assistance.
  • Tests and monitors software, hardware, and peripheral equipment to evaluate use, effectiveness, and adequacy of product for user.

Technical skills including, but not limited exclusively to:

  • 3+ years IT support experience
  • Experience with Unix (Solaris) and Linux
  • Data Center/computer room management
  • Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, working with remote team, and effectively prioritize workload.
