@Road Introduces taskforce Managed Services Solution for On-Demand Automated Field Service Delivery

As a subscription-based Managed Services Provider solution based on the taskforce intelligent automation technology, taskforce MSP can enable businesses of any size to efficiently and economically synchronize their resources for optimized service delivery

FREMONT, Calif. – September 27, 2005 –@Road®, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARDI), a global provider of Mobile Resource Management (MRM) solutions, and Vidus Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of @Road, today announced at CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2005 in San Francisco (booth #349) the introduction of taskforce MSP(SM), a subscription-based Managed Services Provider (MSP) delivery model for on-demand automated field service delivery for businesses of any size. This new delivery offering of taskforce includes the same innovative features and functionality of the licensed version, but with the additional benefit of being an on-demand MSP solution with a simple "pay as you go" monthly subscription model. This can result in a more rapid implementation of the intelligent automated Field Service Management solution across the enterprise with little or no IT infrastructure capital costs, additional staffing or license fees. Additionally, as an on-demand MSP solution, taskforce MSP has the agility and capability to configure, scale and adapt to dynamic mission-critical business requirements.

"@Road and Vidus are uniquely positioned to offer taskforce in a MSP model," said Leo Jolicoeur, @Road chief marketing officer. "By applying the managed services infrastructure we already have in place with our Field Force Management solutions, we can deliver the power of a taskforce Field Service Management solution with the cost-efficiencies and scalability that comes with an on-demand managed service. We implement, operate and maintain taskforce, while our customers enjoy the benefits that an automated intelligent Field Service Management solution can bring, including the ability to meet and exceed customer expectations through more reliable and consistent customer service and improved customer quality of experience."

Benefits of taskforce MSP include:

  • Efficiencies in the acquisition and operation of a scheduling and dispatch solution through shared use of facilities and employment of staff.
  • Access to a Tier-1 carrier-grade product with many years of proven successful operations.
  • Flexibility and speed-to-market through the configurability of a managed services provider solution.
  • Day-to-day IT operational management provided by @Road.
  • A reduction of the need to hire and retain scarce-skilled staff to operate and maintain the system.
  • No capital costs.
  • Administrative costs reduced by the incorporation of agreed license, services and maintenance charges into a single monthly fee.
  • Proven ROI through the incremental productivity and efficiency of field service management and enhanced customer satisfaction and retention.

taskforce MSP also conforms to Web services software standards to simplify interoperability with host businesses and other add-on applications for smooth and rapid deployment across the enterprise.

By synchronizing resources across the enterprise, taskforce MSP is designed to improve the service delivery process using real-time data and artificial-intelligence algorithms that can give organizations a holistic view of the entire service delivery lifecycle: from business, strategic and operations planning, through to capacity management and service fulfilment. taskforce MSP also orchestrates critical enterprise functions such as dynamic capacity planning and control, resource management and geography management, extending the ability of service providers to become more customer-centric.

"@Road is the only company to develop an on-demand Field Service Management solution as a MSP model that can drive down operational costs while improving field service delivery and customer quality of experience," Jolicoeur said. "The @Road Application Service Provider (ASP) infrastructure already serves as the foundational technology for approximately 140,000 @Road subscribers and end users around the world."

Through a holistic view of the service delivery lifecycle made possible with taskforce MSP, service providers are able to better deploy available mobile and enterprise resources, reducing the need for spare capacity and decreasing system redundancy in order to be operationally efficient without compromising customer promises.

taskforce MSP also uses a common Microsoft .NET application architecture which can be used for mobile field service functions, customer service functions and in the operations and planning functions.  In addition, service delivery customers are able to use web-based tools to interact directly with the service provider’s appointment system to select and control their preferred appointment window.
