Field Asset Management

Vehicle Maintenance

The @Road Vehicle Maintenance module—a standard feature of @Road GeoManager iLM and @Road Pathway iLM—helps companies effectively manage maintenance of their field assets to realize the benefits of fuel savings, reduced downtime and service interruptions, and reduced maintenance costs.

Save on Repair Costs; Extend Life of Field Assets

With @Road Vehicle Maintenance, service managers may designate which maintenance items to track, access valuable reports showing maintenance status and set up automatic reminder notifications for maintenance that is due. Using these features, managers can see a clear picture of the maintenance history for each field asset, plus they benefit from automated system assistance in tracking required maintenance actions and keeping each asset up-to-date. Such maintenance tracking and follow-through can improve overall vehicle/asset performance, which may lower the risk of costly breakdowns and resulting service interruptions. As an added benefit, using the module to track ongoing maintenance may help retain the resale value and extend the life of your field assets, reducing capital costs.

Save Fuel with Improved Maintenance

The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that companies can realize up to a 19 percent miles-per-gallon savings by improving vehicle maintenance.† @Road Vehicle Maintenance helps managers achieve these fuel savings by ensuring the scheduling of engine tuning, timely air filter replacement, regular oil changes and correct motor oil grade—as well as other types of maintenance—with customizable lists of items to track and definable thresholds for setting reminder alerts.

Sensor Solutions

@Road Sensor Solutions include StatSensorTM and TempSensorTM

StatSensor

The @Road StatSensorTM status reporting and management feature enables monitoring of up to four independent events, such as Door Opened/Closed and Tow Lift Up/Down. SwitchSensor monitors electrical signals and serves as the interface between the iLM® (Internet Location Manager) and the existing mobile resource switch.
Sample transition events include:

  • Door Opened/Closed
  • Door Up/Down
  • Light On/Off
  • Tow Lift Up/Down
  • Street Sweeper Broom Up/Down

The iLM monitors switch transition information, stores the data and sends it to the @Road server at custom-designated intervals. You may review switch transition, time, date and location information in a detailed activity report that uses descriptions you define. The easy-to-read report highlights transitions in blue.

TempSensor

@Road TempSensor digitally records and reports the current surrounding temperature. TempSensor is ideal for use in any industry in which the temperature of a compartment is important, such as the food and chemical distribution sectors.
Benefits of TempSensor include:

  • Remote and periodic temperature reports
  • Automatic data capture, eliminating manual entry
  • Protection against disputes over spoiled goods

The intuitive TempSensor reporting feature enables flexibility and instills confidence that goods will be transported at optimum temperature. TempSensor is easy to install and can be positioned anywhere there is a need for temperature data reports.

Vehicle Diagnostics

Field asset managers today need to run their operations with optimum efficiency, especially in the face of mission-critical challenges such as high fuel and operations costs, recurring repairs, frequent vehicle downtime and overpaying state fuel tax because of the inability to capture accurate mileage.

@Road Vehicle Diagnostics helps address these challenges by retrieving critical engine information from the vehicle’s electronic control module and transmitting this data through the @Road iLM. Managers can use this information to remotely monitor important engine parameters for proactive intervention and prevention of downtime. Critical data on engine faults such as low oil pressure, very high coolant temperature and sustained excessive engine speed can be derived from Trip Detail Reports or Trip Summary Reports, which are provided either in a daily summary or in real time according to customized exceptions.

Benefits include:

• Optimized vehicle use
• Proactive preventive maintenance
• Reduced fuel, maintenance and repair costs
• Decreased vehicle and driver downtime
• Minimized time spent on SMOG compliance
• Increased and improved customer service
• Potentially reduced insurance costs
• Maximized vehicle warranty
• Reduced fuel taxes through accurate recording of work versus personal fuel consumption using company vehicles

There are two Vehicle Diagnostics modules available to @Road GeoManager customers, named according to industry-developed standards for monitoring parts of the chassis, body and accessory devices as well as the diagnostic control network of the vehicle:

For heavy vehicles: @Road J1708 Vehicle Diagnostics
For light-duty (Class 1 to Class 5) vehicles: @Road OBDII Vehicle Diagnostics
