@Road t o Feature Specialized MRM Solutions at Waste Expo

The @Road Facilities Management Suite and other MRM solutions will be showcased at the largest solid waste and recycling industry trade show in North America

FREMONT, CA – May 02, 2005 – @Road, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARDI), a global provider of Mobile Resource Management (MRM) solutions, will feature the @Road Facilities Management Suite at booth #8071 during WasteExpo in Las Vegas, May 3-5. WasteExpo is the largest trade show in North America serving the solid waste and recycling industry. In addition to the @Road Facilities Management Suite, @Road will also showcase at the event a comprehensive set of integrated, end-to-end MRM products and solutions which address the specific needs of residential, commercial, and roll-off lines of the waste industry.

By simplifying complex routing and compliance operations, automating real-time scheduling and offering dynamic dispatching capabilities, @Road MRM solutions can also help waste services companies reduce manual routing and data entry activities, reduce hours per haul, increase the number of container swaps and standardize overall business processes.

Features and benefits of the @Road Facilities Management Suite being highlighted at the WasteExpo include:

  • GeoManagersm iLM®. Measures overall mobile workforce performance and productivity as well as integrates with back-office enterprise applications. The GeoManager solution also includes on-demand or scheduled activity and exception reports showing mobile worker location with routes, landmarks, vehicle speed, starts, stops and more—all on a customizable map.

  • Dynamic Scheduling and Routing. Enables waste companies to upload customer and ticket information—in real-time or batch mode—from a back-office system into the routing engine to  generate optimized routes using custom business rules, such as location, drive time, driver availability, container type, or city ordinances. In addition, provides dynamic dispatching capabilities, enabling waste companies to optimize the dispatching of unplanned jobs to drivers.

  • Roll-off Solution. The @Road Roll-off solution analyzes job tickets received from a customer’s ERP system and employs custom business rules to define route schedules, dump facility locations, employee schedules, and vehicle and container types. Each ticket is then geocoded, automatically generating a daily CoverSheet for each driver. Drivers scan each customer location on the CoverSheet as they complete the pick-up—verifying proof of service—and recording any obstacles or bottlenecks. At the end of the shift, dispatchers print and drivers sign each CoverSheet and the data forwards automatically to the ERP system for payroll and billing. 

  • Route Compliance. Analyzes compliance and productivity with powerful, interactive reporting tools that measure planned vs. actual schedules, on-time rates, unmatched locations, daily line-up planning, driver route sheets, route density, daily Gantt charts and proof of service.

  • Electronic Cover Sheet. Leverages barcoding technology, enabling drivers to timestamp pick-ups for proof of collection by scanning each customer code on arrival. @Road captures the customer name and matches it with pre-existing GPS-based location information. Drivers also have the ability to perform additional code scans designed specifically for on-route data collection to record obstacles—such as locked gates, debris blockage, snow/ice—extra trash, or other downtime. Drivers submit forms using the iDTTM, Internet Data Terminal, reducing time, paperwork, and potential reporting errors.

  • Two-Way Communications. Messaging and automated forms provide instant access to critical information between drivers and dispatchers, and record transmission history.

  • Satellite Communications. Delivers wireless communication when service delivery vehicles move out of cellular network coverage area. Switches between cellular networks and satellite based on network availability.

  • Engine Monitoring and Diagnostics (J1708/OBDII). Provides notification of vehicle service issues, such as high coolant temperature, low oil pressure, excessive idling or acceleration, high intake air temperature, engine over speed, and engine fault codes. In addition to immediate exceptions notifications—and in conjunction with GeoManager—this feature provides information on drivers’ performance and vehicle usage, potentially reducing insurance and repair costs.
