@Road and TransDecisionsTM Forge Strategic Alliance to Help Customers Maximize Value of Mobile-Worker Resources

Integrated Solution to Couple the @Road Mobile Resource Management Service with TransDecisions' Mobile Logistics Solution

Fremont, CA -- January 28, 2003 -- @Road (Nasdaq: ARDI), a leading provider of location-enhanced wireless Internet solutions for mobile resource management (MRM), today announced the formation of a strategic alliance with TransDecisions, a Boston, MA-area developer of innovative logistics software for enterprises and transportation.

According to the agreement, the two companies will work together to develop and market an integrated solution consisting of the @Road MRM service and TransDecisions' mobile logistics and scheduling system. For the first time, @Road customers will have access to a hosted and fully automated routing and dispatching system, which would seamlessly integrate work order data, customer business rules and traveling instructions with mobile worker location information.

The planned union of these technologies would enable customers to deploy one solution meeting a broader set of MRM needs, which is expected to accelerate the return on investment commonly realized through the independent implementation of these systems. Companies deploying the joint solution can expect more efficient and effective field operations, lower operational costs and improved service to end customers.

@Road has developed a comprehensive, hosted MRM platform using the global positioning system (GPS) satellite network, wireless communications and the Internet. Customers using the service have access to a wide-range of tools, including activity and workflow reporting, mapping, location-on-demand, two-way text messaging and maintenance scheduling.

The TransDecisions Fleet Logistics Solution (FLS) is a high performance routing and scheduling engine, which was designed specifically for high-volume decision environments such as web-driven applications, decision analysis and real-time logistics. The FLS is intended to work with applications where speed of calculation and accuracy of results is critical.

Ideal for companies with large field service or food distribution organizations, the @Road-TransDecisions solution would automate the process of integrating customer-service requests with mobile-worker resources. As work orders come into the solution, they are given a set of characteristics including time, date, location, priority and time-to-complete. The solution manages a database of mobile worker availability and skill sets, along with other information such as road conditions and characteristics. The solution initiates a set of routing algorithms to optimize the assignment of work orders to mobile resources. The output includes batch, real-time and mixed job assignment and routing results in compliance with the customer's business rules, along with schedules, route sheets and driving directions for each mobile worker.
